Commercial Accountant

Morgan McKinley are exclusively partnering with a growing FMCG business to recruit a Commercial Accountant into their finance team.

This is an opportunity for an accountant who wants to be close to the commercial decision-making, working directly with sales and category teams and taking ownership of the financial performance of a key brand portfolio.

The Role

You'll act as a key finance partner to the commercial side of the business, using financial insight to understand performance, challenge assumptions and support better decision-making.

You'll be involved in:

• Partnering with Sales and Category teams to understand and improve commercial performance.
• Taking ownership of the P&L for a key brand portfolio.
• Analysing actuals, margins, COGS and variances to identify key drivers.
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting and challenging commercial assumptions.
• Managing and improving working capital.
• Providing financial insight to support pricing, sales and commercial decisions.
• Getting into the detail behind the numbers and translating this into clear commercial recommendations.
• Improving processes and reporting across the finance function.
• Working with internal and external stakeholders across the wider business.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is as comfortable challenging a commercial stakeholder as they are preparing the numbers.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Previous industry/operational finance experience.
• A strong understanding of P&L, COGS, margin and working capital.
• Experience partnering with non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and Excel skills.
• A commercial mindset and genuine curiosity.
• The initiative to identify a problem, investigate it and come up with a solution.
