Select Recruitment is seeking an experienced CNC Operator and Programmer on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturer based in Norwich. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, working with high-quality aluminium extrusions for custom transportation flight cases and related products.
CNC Operator and Programmer
Location: Norwich, Norfolk
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Hours: Standard hours 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday (flexibility required, with working hours being 7:00am - 5:00pm during peak times)
About the Role
As a CNC Operator and Programmer, you will play a key role in operating and programming CNC machinery, with a particular focus on XYZ Milling and CNC extrusion machining. Your goal will be to ensure efficient and high-quality production, minimising material waste and optimising machine utilisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and program CNC extrusion machining centre using proprietary software (Shapes)
- Liaise with the design team to clarify product specifications and resolve queries
- Work closely with the Machine Shop Department Leader to coordinate work schedules
- Maintain high standards of quality and continuous process improvement
- Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at all times
- Assist in equipment maintenance and ensure workspaces are clean and organised
- Strong CNC programming and operating experience (preferably with routers, wood, or metal machining)
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and CNC machine operations
- Problem-solving ability with attention to detail and a passion for high-quality work
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Flexible approach to working hours, with willingness to adapt to seasonal demands
- Experience in a machining or manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret CAD/CAM drawings
- Understanding of engineering calculations and business concepts
- Basic IT proficiency (MS Office, PC file structures)
