Job Description
  • Program and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines to tight tolerances, ensuring full compliance with UPCS MRP system and health and safety policies.
  • Perform pre-operational inspections to ensure machines are clean, and in safe working condition before beginning production
  • Prepare and configure CNC machines by installing and adjusting tools, fixtures, and materials according to job specifications
  • Operate 3 axis / 5 axis CNC Machines using Heidenhain/Siemens/HASS to perform precision machining operations based on detailed engineering drawings and specifications
  • Online programming using CAM systems including Autodesk Powermill
  • Accurately interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files to determine machining operations and tolerances
  • Observe machine operations to ensure quality and consistency, making real-time adjustments as needed
  • Carry out pre-inspection of finished parts and verify conformance to specifications
  • Identify and resolve minor machine malfunctions and perform routine maintenance to ensure efficient operation
  • Record production data, inspection results, and machine settings accurately and timely in job logs or digital systems
  • Adhere to company and safety standards, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean and organised work area
  • Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other machinists to ensure production goals and quality standards are met
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Any other task as agreed by your manager/supervisor

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience in Siemens and HAAS desirable
  • Background in manufacturing production within the automotive sectors
  • Have a strong engineering background including precision machining
  • Create and edit CNC programs directly or through CAM software
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering blueprints, and CAD models
  • Capable of working to tight tolerances
  • Skilled in setting up tools, fixtures, and workpieces for production runs
  • Ability to communicate and interact with people at all levels
  • Be able to work to tight tolerances and hit deadlines under minimal supervision
  • The ability to work independently, to be self- driven and able to set and monitor own goals
  • Time Management, able to prioritise tasks effectively to keep production schedules on track and minimise downtime
