CMC Application Developer

The global CMC (Chemistry Manufacturing and Control) function is responsible for process development activities in R&D, designing appropriate control strategy to deliver processes of optimum product quality, supplying material for clinical trials and ensuring robust transfer of the process to our commercial organization.
The CMC-Data Science team supports all CMC functions regarding data analytics, from statistical methodologies to machine learning and process modeling.
The CMC organization is undergoing a substantial Digital Transformation, that is transforming our experimental workflow. The digitalization of the lab activities provides automated access to experimental data, contextualization and centralization of the data accessible to scientists across all CMC sites and functions.
As the experimental data becomes readily available, the data consumption strategy is taking a central role in the department, with a strong focus on data preparation, data flow and ETL, feeding applications developed in-house and commercial software used across CMC for data visualization, data modeling and advanced data analytics.
Main responsibilitiesSupporting scientists and data scientists across CMC to develop, maintain and support the growing suite of Digital products / applications in the department
Discuss business requirements with end users and translate them into technical requirements
Design algorithms including machine learning functions to be incorporated in the Applications
Produce clean and efficient code based on technical requirement from end users
Test and deploy applications in the Sanofi platforms via a stringent system testing process
From user feedback, recommend and execute improvements
Debug and upgrade applications in the portfolio
Ensure proper documentation, validation and support is in place for each application following our internal procedures
Identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions related to systems, reporting tools, technologies, and best programming practices
Actively participate in department working groups, provide input in development of tools applicable to process improvement
Ensure training material and user guide are available for each application
Provide technical guidance to project teams and users on all matters involving CMC applications and tools as needed
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Life Science, or related field, with 5+ years of web application development experience
Excellent technical skills with programming languages such as R, Python, Java, typically used for software development in a global environment
Strong knowledge in frontend development: Shiny, JavaScript or Dash
Advanced knowledge of Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy/SciPy, ML package Scikit-learn, and visualization libraries such D3 js, Streamlit
Demonstrated experience and strength in developing, maintaining, and deploying web applications and APIs
Proven experience with relational and non-relational database such as Postgres or MongoDB
Proven experience in the definition of user requirements, functional and design specifications, validation plans, development and implementation
Demonstrated experience in agile software development
Strong project management skills
Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple assignments with challenging timelines
Collaborative teamwork with strong interpersonal communication skills, that demonstrate initiative and motivation
Strong problem-solving skills
Preferred additional skills
Good understanding of drug development and statistical reporting process
Knowledge or experience with Artificial intelligence or Generative AI
Demonstrated experience with Computer System Validation in a regulated environment
Exposure to training and certification pathways for technical and functional skills from AWS, SnowFlake, Informatica and others
