Job Description

Cloud Integration Engineer (AWS/Azure)

Government Client - UK Security Clearance Eligible

£50,000 - £70,000 per annum

Hybrid - 3 days onsite in Stevenage

Permanent

Brief

We are seeking an experienced, integration-first Cloud Integration Engineer to join our Software & Integration team on a permanent basis.

This role is centred on designing, building, and owning cloud integrations across AWS and Azure, enabling secure, resilient, and well-governed data flows between SaaS platforms, cloud services, and on-premise systems.

This is not an infrastructure or DevOps transition role. The successful candidate will already identify as an integration engineer and be comfortable discussing integration patterns, API design, security, error handling, and modular architecture, as well as collaborating closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You will contribute to major transformation programmes while also helping to shape integration standards, patterns, and best practices within a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support API-led, event-driven, and batch integrations across AWS and Azure
  • Work closely with business analysts, software engineers, solution architects, and QA to translate business requirements into robust integration designs
  • Develop integrations using a hybrid of low-code/no-code platforms and custom code, selecting the best approach for each use case
  • Design and implement modular, reusable integration components to support scalability and maintainability
  • Define and implement error-handling strategies, including retries, logging, alerting, and failure management
  • Apply secure integration patterns, including authentication, authorisation, secrets management, and data protection
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and deployment processes for integration solutions
  • Produce clear, high-quality documentation, including integration designs, data flows, and operational runbooks

Essential Experience

  • Proven hands-on experience as an integration engineer working across cloud environments
  • Strong experience with low-code/no-code integration platforms, such as:
    • Power Automate, Azure Logic Apps, AWS AppFlow, MuleSoft Composer
  • Solid understanding of integration patterns (synchronous vs asynchronous, event-driven, API-led architecture)
  • Hands-on experience with API design and integration, including REST, SOAP, and event-based messaging
  • Practical experience implementing integration security, such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, managed identities, and secrets management
  • Experience integrating with enterprise SaaS platforms (eg Salesforce, ServiceNow, SAP, Pega)
  • Development experience using Python, JavaScript, and/or data transformation/ETL tooling
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven experience producing clear, structured technical documentation

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in secure, regulated, or governed environments
  • Knowledge of IAM, least-privilege access, and secure cloud integration patterns
  • Exposure to shaping integration standards, patterns, or reference architectures

Security Clearance

  • Candidates must hold or be eligible for UK Security Clearance
  • Eligibility requires a minimum of 5 years' continuous UK residency, alongside standard clearance criteria
