Are you a compassionate and motivated clinical leader with a passion for HIV care and improving sexual health outcomes? We are seeking an experienced Clinical Team Leader (Band 8a) to join our forward thinking team at the Mortimer Market Centre in Camden.

In this key leadership role you will work closely with the Service Manager and senior clinicians to oversee the daily operational running of the HIV and ISH services - ensuring high standards of clinical care, patient safety, and service performance.

You will provide visible leadership to a skilled multidisciplinary team, supporting staff to deliver evidence based, person centred care for people living with HIV and those accessing sexual health services, with a particular focus on GBMSM communities. You will play a central role in developing inclusive, innovative, and responsive care pathways that reflect the needs and experiences of the diverse populations we serve.

Main duties of the job

As Clinical Team Leader (HIV and Integrated Sexual Health), you will provide visible, supportive leadership to a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality, patient centred care at the Mortimer Market Centre.

You will take day to day responsibility for the operational management of the HIV and ISH services, ensuring care is safe, effective, inclusive and responsive to the needs of our diverse population.

Your role will include leading the delivery of specialist HIV care, supporting people living with HIV to achieve the best possible health outcomes, and overseeing services in sexual health, including prevention, testing, treatment and health promotion initiatives.

You will drive service improvement and quality, support staff development through supervision and training, and ensure performance and safeguarding standards are consistently met.

You will bring strong leadership and communication skills, significant experience in HIV and/or sexual health care, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, evidence based services.

About us

CNWL provides Sexual Health and HIV Services across North Central London and in Surrey. As well as clinic based services, CNWL also delivers community health promotion outreach, a dedicated young people's service and Learning Disabilities services.

Job responsibilities

The Clinical Team Leader (HIV and Integrated Sexual Health) is a senior leadership role within the Mortimer Market Centre, providing operational and professional leadership for the HIV and ISH services. Working closely with the Service Manager, Clinical Leads, and Deputy Service Director, you will ensure services are safe, efficient, inclusive and aligned with the Trust's quality and performance standards.

You will:

  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary team delivering specialist HIV and sexual health care.
  • Take day to day responsibility for service planning, performance management, and workforce coordination to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Provide visible, supportive leadership that promotes staff wellbeing, professional development and clinical excellence.
  • Oversee effective financial and resource management in collaboration with the Service Manager.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, care pathways and service improvements that enhance patient experience and outcomes.
  • Support clinical governance, quality improvement, and audit initiatives across the service.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including commissioners, voluntary sector partners and community organisations.
  • Deliver direct clinical care within your scope of practice, including assessment, treatment and health promotion for people living with HIV and those accessing sexual health services.

Person Specification Education and Qualifications
  • RGN (NMC Sub part 1 Adult branch)
  • University certificate or equivalent in HIV and/or Sexual Health training
  • Nurse prescribing course or willingness to train
  • Qualification /training in management and/or leadership
  • Certificate in mentorship course or equivalent
  • LOC (IUC) or equivalent
  • LOC (SDI) or equivalent
Previous Experience
  • Substantial experience working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Substantial experience of operationally managing and coordinating a team
  • Must be able to prioritise own work effectively and be able to direct activities of others
  • Experience of managing and motivating a team and reviewing performance of the individuals
  • Experience in managing and leading a team through change
  • Experience of delivering training to colleagues
  • Substantial experience in line managing staff
Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to problem solve, negotiate and influence where appropriate
  • Ability to make decisions autonomously, when required, on difficult issues, working to tight and often changing timescales
  • Strategic thinking - ability to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise
  • Able to collect analyse and make judgements about complex information
