Clinical Secretary - Surgical Directorate

The RoleProvide comprehensive administrative support to a team of clinicians, enabling clinicians to operate effectively and efficiently. Work in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Both Permanent and fixed term/secondment contracts available.
In this key role, you will:- Type dictated clinical letters (discharges, clinic follow up, onward referrals, legal reports etc) and clinical notes. Type meeting minutes when appropriate. Prioritise work to meet agreed service standards.
- Organise clinical activity for clinicians and re arrange activities when required (eg. out patient clinics, operating lists). Support theatre scheduling as required.
- Follow up administrative tasks requested by clinicians, such as booking appointments, arranging investigative tests, chasing up diagnostic results etc. Anticipate problems (eg. clashing appointments, delays in results being available) and take appropriate action.
- Maintain accurately coded and timely records on electronic systems that are used to capture information about patient journeys (eg. appointment bookings Trakcare).
- SVQ level 2 qualification (or equivalent experience) plus at least 2 years experience in healthcare administration or at least 3 years experience in a secretarial role.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Evidence of effective team working and dealing with change.
- Evidence of strong communication skills with patients, clinicians and colleagues.
