Due to growth of our service an opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 7 Clinical Scientist to join the existing Nuclear Medicine team which consists of 24 members of staff. This is an interesting and varied role providing physics support to the Nuclear Medicine.

There are currently three gamma cameras over the two Trust sites, two with SPECT CT capability. At the Gloucester trust site there is the new SPECT-CT gamma camera installed in an upgraded department. There is an in house Radiopharmacy used for the daily manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals, which is operated jointly with the Pharmacy department, and we also carry out Molecular Therapies. Flexibility is required for this role.

Nuclear Medicine is a part of Medical Physics.

This is an exciting time to join the department.

Additional working pattern details: Will be required to work flexibility on both sites.

Main duties of the job

To provide scientific support to the Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation Protection services throughout the Trust.

Carry out QC for imaging and non imaging equipment.

Support Radiopharmacy QC.

Train staff.

Carry out a variety of radiation audits.

To participate in the provision of scientific support to the Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation Protection services throughout the Trust so that an efficient and effective service is provided.

Person Specification Qualifications

• Specialist experience in Nuclear Medicine / Molecular Radiotherapy
• MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent
• Professional registration

Experience

• Previous experience in a leadership role

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Experience of performing routine QC on imaging and non imaging equipment and able to analyse results and recommend most appropriate course of action.
• Demonstrates an understanding of Radiation Protection Legislation and how it applies to Nuclear Medicine.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to deliver training.
• Good organisational skills, including ability to prioritise workload.
• Ability to establish good working relationships with staff in and outside the department.
• Knowledge of NHS software, e.g. CRIS, PACS, IsoStock
