Job summaryThe National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Oxford Clinical Research Facility (CRF) has a vacancy for a clinical research nurse to join our team and to support our increasing portfolio of research activity across the OUH Trust. The role will work across sites in our facilities at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and the Churchill Hospital sites.
Full time hours are available with a minimum of 30 hours required, and there may be some shift work and weekend work involved.
We are a growing team of nurses, research practitioners and administrators with fantastic support from the wider research community. The team have a growing portfolio of studies that cover all specialities. We focus on early phase and experimental research.
The NIHR Oxford CRF is governed by a collaboration between the University of Oxford and OUH NHS Trust. The facility is part of a network of facilities funded by the National Institute of Health Research.
Main duties of the jobAs a grade 6 clinical research nurse you will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver clinical care to research participants according to a defined protocol, ensuring the principles of ICHGCP guidelines are always followed. Ensuring research projects are completed successfully and within specified timelines will be critical and the role provides a unique opportunity to communicate and assist with the project management of the team's studies.
It is essential that you are organised and able to plan work to a high standard with excellent attention to detail. You will also be an important member of the research team and as such will be involved with other on-going/new studies.
With a growing portfolio of studies we are increasing our team and advertising for a Band 6 nurse to join us.

Person Specification- UK recognised first level degree (HEI Level 6), in Nursing or specialist nursing field
- Knowledge of research methodologies
- Evidence of on-going CPD, including multi-source feedback within own professional portfolio
- Competency in clinical skills relevant to clinical research area - may include but not limited to vital sign recording, drug administration, phlebotomy/ cannulation/ECG/ cognitive assessment
- Competency in high level of accuracy and when assessing participants and documenting research and care activities
- Evidence of effective team working and team leadership (when required) as part of research delivery team
- Shows pride in the quality of care they provide for clinical research participants, learning from setbacks and successes
- Positive attitude to all tasks and stakeholders, both internal and external
- Ability to maintain and contribute to development of standard operating procedures and research processes
- Specialist post-graduate education/qualifications, or training relevant to area of clinical practice and/or clinical research delivery
- Human Tissue Act training
- Knowledge of NHS research governance and policy
- Good Clinical Practice Training
- Ability to work with a high level of attention to detail
- Experience of sample processing in a laboratory setting
