The UCL Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology
The Institute was established on 1 August 2013 and is formally comprised of two Research Departments: The MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (MRC CTU) and the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (CCTU) within the Faculty of Population Health Science. The Institute also has two further units that are virtual members: The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre and the PRIMENT Clinical Trials Unit.
The Faculty brings together expertise in Child Health, Women's and Reproductive Health, Population Health, Global Health, Cardiovascular Science, Clinical Trials and Health Informatics, in a unique grouping that spans the life course.
The Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit is a specialist unit set up within the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology with a specific remit to design, conduct, analyse and publish clinical trials and other well designed studies.
The CCTU provides clinical, statistical and trial operations leadership and facilitates the delivery of high quality, regulatory compliant clinical trials of both investigational medicinal products (IMPs) (in compliance with the UK regulations governing the conduct of clinical trials of IMP) and other non IMP trials and studies.
The CCTU is a registered CTU with the capability to centrally coordinate multi centre clinical trials (i.e. having overall responsibility for the design, development, recruitment, data management and analysis of trials) with robust systems to ensure conduct and delivery of clinical trials to the highest quality standards.
About the roleThe post holder will provide clinical support to large clinical trial, being exposed to all aspects of the clinical trial process, from identifying new areas of study (potentially performing reviews/meta analyses to support trial ideas, working collaboratively with colleagues from the Unit, taking responsibility for executing the trial, managing recruitment sites, coordinating research activities, and supporting the trial until its conclusion.
This job is ideal for Resident Doctor in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Reproductive Medicine, Sexual & Reproductive Health with experience of clinical research. The post can be tailored to be suitable for either a senior trainee seeking to gain enhanced experience in clinical trials prior to taking up a substantive consultant post, or for someone earlier in their career who might use this opportunity to develop an application for external funding to pursue a PhD within the unit.
This role is being offered at Speciality Registrar/ST3+.
This is a part time position at 60% FTE, equivalent to 21.9 hours/3 days per week and is available for a fixed term of 2 years and 5 months.

About youThe post holder must hold a Medical Degree (MD, MC ChB or equivalent).
GMC registration (Non UK trained applicants must supply at interview evidence of eligibility for full GMC registration).
The successful candidate must have an experience in publishing in peer reviewed medical journals.
Willingness to write papers collaboratively and present results at conferences if required.
