Role SummaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated nurse to join the Clinical Nurse Specialist team within Greater Glasgow & Clyde Urology department, serving the North & Clyde Sectors. This crucial post forms part of the wider Clinical Nurse Services and involves working across multiple key sites, including Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Vale of Leven Hospital, and Stobhill Hospital.
Working collaboratively within a highly skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering and maintaining high standards of specialised care for patients undergoing investigation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow up for a wide spectrum of urological conditions. A key focus of the role is the expert assessment and management of patients along the bladder and prostate pathways, encompassing both complex cancer care and benign conditions, making this an ideal role for a nurse dedicated to advancing their clinical expertise and patient advocacy.
The post holder will manage a defined caseload, prioritising and organising workload effectively to ensure the timely delivery of high quality services. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role also includes elements of leadership, education, research, and service development, all underpinned by the principles of clinical governance. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will act as an expert resource for patients, carers, and colleagues, providing advanced clinical advice, support and education across a variety of care settings, with a focus on cystoscopy and prostate care.
QualificationsWe are seeking a registered nurse with current NMC registration and post registration experience in urology or a related clinical nurse specialist field. The successful candidate will be clinically confident, highly organised, and passionate about delivering patient centred care. Strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills are essential, along with the ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary environment. Experience and competence in cystoscopy, bladder and prostate assessment are highly desirable. Previous experience in advanced practice as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or a postgraduate qualification in Urology is desirable but not essential, as training and development opportunities will be available to support the successful candidate.
