Job Description

We are Hiring Clinical Nurse Manager 2 - Oncology Day Unit for a leading hospital in Dublin, Ireland.

Job Type: Permanent (Full-Time & Part-Time)

  • Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Oncology Day Unit, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.
  • Manage and supervise nursing staff, including rostering, performance management, mentorship, and professional development.
  • Ensure the safe administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, supportive treatments, and other oncology-related interventions in accordance with clinical guidelines.
  • Monitor patient assessments, treatment plans, and clinical outcomes to maintain high standards of oncology nursing practice.
  • Collaborate with consultants, oncology teams, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure seamless patient care and service delivery.
  • Promote compliance with infection prevention and control, medication management, health and safety, and quality assurance standards.
  • Support the implementation of clinical governance initiatives, risk management processes, audits, and quality improvement projects.
  • Provide leadership in the management of clinical incidents, patient concerns, and service-related issues, ensuring appropriate follow-up and resolution.
  • Facilitate staff education, competency assessments, and continuing professional development to maintain excellence in oncology nursing practice.
  • Contribute to service planning, policy development, accreditation processes, and the achievement of organisational objectives within the Oncology Day Unit.
Requirements

Be registered as a General Nurse on the live register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Hold a recognised qualification in Oncology Nursing or a related specialty area.

Have a minimum of 5 years post-registration nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.

Poss at least 3 years of recent experience in oncology nursing, including chemotherapy administration and management of oncology patients.

Demonstrate previous leadership or management experience, preferably at CNM1 level or equivalent.

Have experience in supervising, mentoring, and supporting nursing staff and students.

Possess a strong understanding of clinical governance, risk management, quality improvement, and audit processes.

Demonstrate knowledge of oncology treatment pathways, chemotherapy safety standards, and patient-centred care practices.

Exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, and leadership skills.

Provide evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and commitment to maintaining professional competence.
