Clinical leader (Orthopaedics)

Orthopaedic Clinical Leader - Tunbridge Wells Hospital (Theatre)

Permanent, full time position. 37.5 hours per week. Salary up to £52,500.00 per annum, dependent on experience.

Main duties of the role

The orthopaedic clinical leader will ensure efficient operation of the orthopaedic team and support or deputise for the Clinical Head of Department as required. The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills with all members of the multidisciplinary team, consultants and patients, and an enthusiastic, can do attitude. Responsibilities include:

• Co ordinate activity and be responsible for patient care and safety.
• Be instrumental to the patient experience, ensuring seamless, personalised care.
• Apply knowledge and skills in assessment, care planning and delivery.
• Champion a supportive, enabling working culture on the ward, promoting staff safety and education.
• Have SFA or SCP experience.

Additional responsibilities

As the clinical leader you will also:

• Conduct and organise the orthopaedic clinical team within theatre, ensuring smooth running of theatre lists, booking forms and assisting sessions.
• Collaborate flexibly across theatre suites to accommodate service demands of each department (Endoscopy, General, Orthopaedics, Gynae, ENT, Recovery and Anaesthetics).
• Promote effective clinical risk management and governance, including safety, risk management, quality improvement and policy implementation.
• Have extensive knowledge of audits and equipment.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of surgical techniques and associated equipment.
• Provide opportunities for continuous growth and personal development.

Qualifications

• Registered with the appropriate governing body.
• Relevant qualifications and post registration experience in surgery/anaesthetics, including as a Registered Nurse or HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner.

• Proven clinical leadership, guiding teams towards shared vision, promoting innovation and sustainability.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, and ability to work as part of a team.
• Knowledge of running a smooth, effective department with surgical equipment.
