Lead Radiographer

Bournemouth Hospital Radiology Permanent Part Time

Up to £50,000 per annum depending on experience

37.5 hours per week

We are looking for an experienced Lead Radiographer who will be responsible for the operational management of a part of the diagnostic imaging department ensuring the delivery of high-quality imaging services, and / or to be a speciality lead in a clinical area such as MRI, CT mammography, whilst supporting the Radiology Manager. You will have the relevant specialist knowledge with previous people management experience, good communication and IT skills, to help us build a healthier nation as a Lead Radiographer at our Bournemouth Hospital.

The Radiology department is a growing and busy department covering general radiographic procedures, theatre, ultrasound, Mammography and MRI. You will undertake a wide range of duties in helping to run the day to day running of a radiology service as well as participating in clinical work.

You hold a BSC degree in diagnostic radiography (or equivalent), a postgraduate qualification and be HCPC registered. With a working knowledge of IRMER, IRR and be able to undertake audits. Radiation Protection Supervisor training/qualification would be desirable.

Applicants must obtain DBS clearance upon successful appointment.

As our Lead Radiographer, you will:
  • Provide clinical leadership within a highly specialised area.
  • You will participate in departmental QA, audit and all aspects of mandatory training as well.
  • As a clinical lead you will enjoy scoping to develop policies and procedures.
  • Deputise and support Radiology Manager.
  • Supervise and develop other members of staff, including to mentor students and perceptees.
  • Work in partnership supporting practitioners and other departments around the hospital.
  • See each patient as an individual and carry out this role with understanding and empathy.
  • Excellent communication and team working abilities.
To Succeed as a Lead Radiographer, you will:
  • Significant post qualification experience in MRI. Training in advanced MRI techniques including cardiac MRI.
  • Experience in a management position in an operational or service management capacity.
  • Experience of dealing with challenging situations.
  • Excellent team working, organisational and leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to manage staff effectively
  • Well-developed analytical skills and innovative problem solving abilities.
  • Possess mature judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional Patient Care
  • Awareness of budgetary implications and commercial impact
  • Detailed understanding of Clinical Governance.
  • MRI Safety Qualification preferable.
