Job Description

Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 clinical educator role within theNeurology and Neurosurgical Childrens Service. The focus of this role will bedriving quality and service improvement within childrens surgery througheducation, training and audit. The applicant should possess excellentorganisational skills and be highly motivated with the ability to motivate andinspire others through the creation of an innovative culture of education andthe ability to develop and implement strategy to achieve this. Applicants mustbe able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be able to establisheffective links with the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).

The post holder would be responsible for overseeingand facilitating the compliance and maintenance of Leeds Teaching HospitalTrust required competencies and training for registered and non-registeredclinical facing staff in partnership with team leads. You will be responsiblefor delivering training in a classroom setting, online learning platform and atthe bedside. The post holder will be responsible for keeping an audit trail ofstaff compliance, competence and have a real focus of instilling confidence inclinical skills. The post holder will develop training packages andcompetencies to align with national and local frameworks to drive patientsafety.

Main duties of the job

Additionalaspects of the role will include working with the Senior Clinical Educatorfor Surgical, Speciality and Medicine Services, Lead Nurse for ChildrensEducation, Matron for Childrens Surgery and Lead Nurse for Quality inresponding to clinical audits, incidents and service improvement to ensurepatient and staff safety.

Thesuccessful applicant must possess a foundation qualification and/orequivalent as well as a recognised teaching/assessment qualification (e.g.PAPP, SLIPs or mentorship etc.). Significant experience of working clinicallyin the childrens service, understanding of how the service runs andinvolvement in the delivery education and training within the clinicalsetting are desirable.

Therole involves working on weekdays and in daytime hours but requiringflexibility to accommodate service need. Additionally, part of the contractedhours will be worked as clinical Band 6 shifts, covering a full service ofhours, to develop and maintain clinical skills and expertise. The candidatewill have the opportunity to bring their own ideas to improve education andstaff development within the surgical childrens service.
