EQUIP offers a service to adult residents of Hackney and the City aged 18 - 65 following a first episode of psychosis. The team also works closely with the Early Detection Service, Heads Up, which offers a service for people who are at risk of developing psychosis. The teams work with diagnostic uncertainty and focus on addressing the associated distress and disability.
Main duties of the jobThe purpose is to minimise the risk of future breakdowns and maximise the quality of life for the individual. This is achieved by working in active partnership with service users, carers and with local voluntary and community groups, in addition to statutory services. The post holder will work alongside clinical psychologists already in post to support individuals and their families in line with NICE guidelines for psychosis and schizophrenia, as well as be jointly responsible for the operational delivery of psychology provision with the other senior psychologists within the team. The post holder will receive specialist supervision and support from the wider City and Hackney Psychology department.

Qualifications- Post graduate doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology
- Registered with HCPC
- Post qualification training in CBTp, FI/ family or systemic therapy
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients across a range of care settings
- Experience of working with people experiencing psychosis
- Experience of working clinically within a systemic or family therapy model
- Experience of the application of clinical/counselling psychology in different cultural contexts
- Post qualification experience of working with people experiencing psychosis
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
- Doctoral-level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practised within the clinical fields of psychology
- Evidence of CPD as recommended by the BPS
- Awareness of potential impact of discrimination and disadvantage on mental health
- Competence in basic IT systems including keyboard skills
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised and evidence-based psychological therapies
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
