Clinical & Research Fellow (Visa Sponsorship Available)

We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical & Research Fellow in Medical Retina to join a world-class ophthalmic clinic in Central London. This is an exceptional, fully paid one-year fellowship (extendable annually up to 3 years) providing advanced clinical exposure combined with hands on translational research in cutting edge ophthalmic technologies.

Start Date: January 2026 Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

This fellowship offers direct exposure to pioneering clinical trials, particularly in gene therapy, and advanced diagnostic technologies.

Research & Innovation

• Participate in multiple funded translational research projects focusing on areas like: Gene therapy and anti-complement intravitreal therapy in Advanced Dry AMD.
• Advanced vitreoretinal and choroidal imaging (Wide-Field, OCT, OCTA).
• AI-assisted image analysis and data interpretation.

Contribute to study documentation, data management, and regulatory submissions in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

Draft research reports, manuscripts, and scientific presentations for national and international conferences.

Clinical and Imaging Work

• Assist in examining and testing patients using the most innovative imaging and diagnostic technologies, including Ultra-widefield OCT angiography and Adaptive optics.
• Assist in and conduct intravitreal injections under supervision.
• Provide patient care in both clinical trial and private clinic settings.

Note: This fellowship has no surgical component in the first year, though an opportunity may be added in the second year upon extension.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year full-time postgraduate ophthalmology training.
• Procedures: Prior experience with laser procedures.
• Research Skills: Strong data analysis, research, and presentation skills (including preparing presentations and drafting scientific publications).
• Attributes: Excellent communication, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to professional development.
