Cleaning Operative - Dean Park Annexe

Salary: £26,205 - £26,525 (pro rata for part time and sessional). Hours: 18 per week, 40 weeks sessional. Working pattern: Monday 5 9 PM, Tuesday-Friday 5 8:30 PM.

As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of our Facilities Management team, delivering a vital cleaning service across our estate to keep our properties safe and clean.

Major tasks / job activities
  • Empty litter and recycling bins.
  • Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings in designated buildings.
  • Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers, and replenish washroom consumables.
  • Respond to emergency and reactive cleaning needs, e.g. remove graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages.
  • Maintain cleanliness and care of all equipment used.
  • Other duties that reasonably relate to the role, including supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings as required.
  • Deliver to the cleaning specification and cooperate with performance measurement to meet the agreed standards.

As a Cleaning Operative in this role, you will also be a key holder. This may include operating security alarm systems when opening a building, closing windows and doors, switching off lights, and ensuring premises are left safe and secure when closing.

This role is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. You will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If you have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more abroad in the last 5 years, you will also need an Overseas Criminal Record Check. These checks must be satisfactory for an unconditional offer.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and increases annually until it reaches the top of the range.
