Civils Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong civils and commercial construction background to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates and supporting ongoing projects across the Civil and Utilities sectors including electrical substations, renewable energy, and wind infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional looking to work on Civil and Utilities infrastructure as well as Energy projects within a dynamic and expanding business.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction and infrastructure projects
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
• Source and price construction materials, labour, plant, and subcontractor packages
• Support the Commercial Manager with budgeting, forecasting, and tender submissions
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
• Assist with cost planning across ongoing projects within the business
• Review project risks and opportunities during the tender process
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market rates and industry trends
• Support projects across sectors including:
  • Civil engineering
  • Electrical substations
  • Wind farm infrastructure

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Estimator within construction or civil engineering
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction costing
• Experience working on civils, infrastructure, utilities, or energy projects
• Knowledge of electrical substation or renewable energy projects would be advantageous
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software

Desirable

• Experience within renewable energy or power sectors
• HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar
• Full UK driving licence
