Children's Residential Support Worker

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work under the direction of the Registered Manager, Senior Staff, and Care Officers to deliver high-standard care that meets the social and emotional needs of children and young people.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with children and young people, addressing their physical care and behavioural management needs.
  • Provide supplementary cover to existing staff teams in children's homes on an "as and when" basis.
  • Engage children in a variety of experiences, promoting choice and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles.
  • Participate in planning and engaging in daily activities, special celebrations, festivals, and outings with the children.
  • Support the educational needs of the children, encouraging them to realize their potential and aspire to achieve their goals.
  • Manage challenging behaviours assertively and positively, using restraint as a last resort following appropriate training.
  • Perform domestic duties to maintain high standards within the home, including redecoration, cleaning, and laundry.
  • Maintain accurate records and perform administrative tasks as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a similar role within children's residential care is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Competence in managing challenging behaviours and providing emotional support.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral, and basic e-literacy skills for record-keeping and communication.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours on a shift basis, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, bank holidays, and potential sleepover shifts.
  • Commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
