Children's Emergency Duty Team Designated Worker - Children & Families Service

Hackney's Children & Families Service are recruiting an experienced social worker to join our Emergency Duty Team (EDT). The EDT operates beyond regular working hours, including evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays, providing critical services and support to children and families where it would not be safe, appropriate or lawful to delay intervention to the next working day.
Responsibilities- Triage all emergency children's safeguarding referrals received while on duty, working in conjunction with agencies such as the police and other emergency services as necessary.
- Hold strategy discussions when concerns regarding significant harm arise.
- Analyse, summarise and evaluate information received out of hours to arrange interim support with the aim to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and/or take action to ensure the child's safety.
- Act as the corporate parent on behalf of the local authority for looked after children, providing support and advice to families in urgent cases.
- Align closely with daytime services to ensure smooth handover of information.
- Work with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility, primarily remotely, with occasional travel to the Hackney offices.
- Adopt an anti racist, trauma informed, and systemic approach when undertaking duties and interacting with service users.
- Holder of a social work qualification (or equivalent) and registered with Social Work England.
- Proven post qualifying experience working with Children's Social Care.
- Full enhanced DBS check (required).
- Ability to work independently under a flexible shift pattern.
