Children Young People and Family Worker
Posted 5 days 22 hours ago by Forward Leeds
Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.
We have almost 200 services around England and nearly 3,500 staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people.
Bringing two big organisations together is a large task and it'll take time to fully integrate our systems, processes and approaches. Jobs here are branded 'Humankind' for now; recruitment systems will be integrated next year.
Location: 81 - 88 Whinney Hill, Durham, DH1 3BQ; applicants must be flexible to travel to other sites. This is an outreach role, therefore applicants must be prepared to travel within the community and obtain business insurance. Working hours: 37 hours, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
The role of the Children Young People and Family (CYPF) Worker is to support children and families with a range of issues relating to substance misuse, offering intensive and flexible support to each family with an overarching aim to achieve positive outcomes, working with families and other relevant services. You will support the Service Manager/Team Leader/Senior Practitioner in delivering interventions to families and manage a caseload of families. You will build a relationship with each family member based on trust and respect, modelling effective communication and persistent support.
About the roleAn exciting opportunity has arisen within a Children, Young People and Families Drug and Alcohol service. You will provide targeted and specialist interventions based on the whole family approach to children, young people, parents, carers and families who have been affected by drug or alcohol use, and specialist drug and alcohol support to young people at risk of or using substances, enabling them to make informed choices and build resilience to substance use. The post holder will offer a range of evidence-based psychosocial interventions to children, young people, adults, families and carers through 1:1 sessions and group work across the full service.
We are seeking a candidate who is passionate, creative, enthusiastic and flexible to meet the needs of our children & young people. We aim to reach out to as many young people affected by drugs and/or alcohol as we can, and this role is key to achieving that ambition.
The new post holder will work as part of a team to provide collaborative recovery planning and case management to those who use or may be at risk of using drugs and alcohol, or younger children impacted by family drug and alcohol use. You will work across all stages of individuals' journeys, from assessment and engagement through to treatment, and collaborate with educational and community partners to promote earlier identification and support for young people and families affected.
