Job Description: Team Leader (Residential Children's Home)

Reporting To

Registered Manager / Deputy Manager

Liaises With

Management team and all residential care staff

Job Purpose

To provide effective leadership and support within the children's home, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and developmentally. The Team Leader will promote high standards of care, lead by example, and ensure compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management

- Support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of the home.

- Take responsibility for the home's operations in the absence of senior management.

- Provide guidance, supervision, and leadership to staff, ensuring high standards of care are consistently maintained.

- Act as Shift Leader, managing staff and resources effectively throughout the shift.

- Promote a positive team culture and model best practice at all times.

- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures, and Ofsted regulations.

Childcare and Practice

- Contribute to creating a safe, stable, and supportive environment that promotes children's emotional security and wellbeing.

- Actively participate in planning and delivering engaging recreational, social, and developmental activities for children.

- Demonstrate high-quality childcare practice through direct work with children and young people.

- Support children to develop independence, resilience, and positive relationships.

- Ensure positive behaviour support strategies are implemented effectively and consistently.

Staff Support and Development

- Supervise and support Key Workers, ensuring they are accountable for the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of each child's care.

- Provide guidance to staff on care standards, policies, and best practice.

- Support staff in managing challenging behaviour and responding appropriately to children's needs.

- Contribute to staff development and promote continuous improvement in practice.

Care Planning and Record Keeping

- Ensure all case records are accurate, up to date, and compliant with regulatory standards.

- Support the implementation and review of individual care plans.

- Ensure effective assessment, planning, and evaluation processes are in place for each child.

- Make informed decisions that prioritise the welfare and best interests of children.

Compliance and Safeguarding

- Work in line with The Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and all relevant legislation.

- Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

- Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed and concerns are reported appropriately.

- Promote children's rights and advocate for their wellbeing at all times.

In return you will get paid £14.75 per hour and £60 per sleep, generous holiday allowance, 2 on 4 days off advance rota. You will receive ongoing training and support that can help you further progress your career.
