Closing date: Friday 9 th May
The Department for Education (DfE) oversees children's services and education in England, from early years to higher education, apprenticeships, and skills. Leading the Government's Opportunity Mission, we work with key partners to create opportunities for learners to thrive today and succeed tomorrow, strengthening society, driving the economy, and enabling equality.
This is an exciting opportunity to join DfE as Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA), providing independent, evidence-based advice to Ministers and senior officials. The CSA will lead research strategy, advise on emerging innovation, and collaborate with experts to strengthen the evidence base on children, young people, and education. The role also involves overseeing research investment and horizon scanning.
We are looking for candidates with an exemplary track record as a scientist with expertise in children, families, and education, who can work with our policy teams to provide robust scientific advice and advise Ministers and senior officials on new scientific developments. You will be an inclusive and collaborative leader who can work across disciplines to deliver results. If you think this could be you, we look forward to hearing from you.
