Chief Inspector of Asylum Border Procedures

Job summary

The Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration is now seeking to recruit the Chief Inspector of Asylum Border Procedures. The Chief Inspector will lead the new body to monitor asylum border procedures and compliance with European Union and international law.

Main Duties of the Job

This role presents an excellent opportunity to be part of an office and will have primary responsibility at a time of significant and fundamental change in the international protection system.

The main role will be to monitor asylum border procedures and compliance with European Union and international law, including the Charter, in designated asylum border facilities, in line with the independent monitoring mechanism provided for by the Screening Regulation and referred to in Article 43 of the Asylum Procedures Regulation.

Information about the organisation

As the Office of Chief Inspector of Asylum Border Procedures will be a newly established entity led by the Chief Inspector. The office will ensure that, during the screening of third-country nationals provided for in that Regulation, there is full compliance with European Union and international law.
