Band 7 Cardiac Physiologist - Echocardiography
We are seeking a dynamic and conscientious Echocardiographer to work at Barts Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will work at the Barts Heart Centre, St Bartholomew's Hospital located in The City of London, with rotation to one of the other sites within the Trust network (Newham Hospital) and contribute to the weekend working rota on a rotational basis. This role will provide the successful candidate with exposure to a variety of complex cardiac pathologies and clinical situations.
To be successful in being appointed to a band 7 post, the applicant must have full BSE/EACVI transthoracic accreditation (or international equivalent) and be able to work independently providing this service.
The department holds dual accreditation with both the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) and European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), so this is an exciting opportunity to develop your career as a competent Echocardiographer with opportunities to progress to training in advanced specialist areas i.e. Cardio-oncology, cardiomyopathy and/or adult congenital heart disease.
Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant will be an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking individual who will contribute to the cardiac physiology team and echo service.
Furthermore, you will be supported to develop your leadership skills as you supervise and train staff in the performance of their individual roles and give support to senior staff members.

Person Specification Experience- Well-versed in basic diagnostic skills expected of a band 6 cardiac physiologist or higher
- Experience in hands-on Transthoracic echo
- Experience in mentorship of junior colleagues
- Experience being responsible for small sections of the cardiology service
- Ability to work in and contribute to a team environment
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Knowledge of current professional issues
- Ability to use Microsoft (Word & Excel) applications
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload and demonstrate initiative
- BSc Clinical Physiology (or international equivalent)
- Good knowledge of transthoracic echocardiography
- Full BSE/EACVI accreditation (or international equivalent)
- Immediate Life Support
