Chemistry Analyst

Alpha Scientific is at the forefront of chemical and microbiological testing, providing detailed analysis of water and air quality to organisations. We are a team of highly skilled scientists working from purpose built, UKAS accredited laboratories in Sittingbourne, Slough and Manchester. The chemistry Analyst role is located on site in Slough and will work full time Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Responsibilities

• Process water samples and read results.
• Carry out all work to the highest standard and in a timely manner.
• Receive samples from customers and process them promptly.
• Adhere to documented procedures, record all relevant information and update LIMS correctly.
• Maintain accurate records and quality data.
• Familiarise with the Laboratory Quality Manual and comply with UKAS accreditation requirements.
• Maintain a clean, tidy laboratory and care for fittings and equipment.
• Meet any additional tasks assigned by the Line Manager.

Person Specification

• Excellent communication skills and confidence when dealing with customers.
• Good teamwork, open and approachable character.
• Strong attention to detail and understanding of business processes.
• Methodical approach to work, high accuracy and ability to prioritise workload.
• High degree of computer literacy, particularly with Excel and Word.
• Ability to maintain focus on repetitive tasks.
• A degree or equivalent in Chemistry is beneficial but not essential.
• Experience in a laboratory environment with competent bench skills is beneficial but not essential.
