Chef/Cook

Based in Monmouth, as Chef / Cook, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in the leadership of a busy kitchen preparing homely high-quality food in a care home with 96 beds in an efficient, hygienic and creative manner.

Job hours will be 7:00 to 17:00-18:00 with every other weekend off and no split shifts.

Just some of the day to day responsibilities will include:

Prepare and cook a variety of fresh nutritious meals and other refreshments, ensuing a nutritional and balanced diet
Creating menus which has a choice of a vegetarian and/or meat dish
Ensure the food is presented to a high creative standard
To lead and mentor the catering team
Ensuring high levels of hygiene, health and safety and cleanliness throughout the kitchen and food store areas
To make sure that all food at point of serving is of the highest quality
To be involved in the design, budget and cost control of all food menus
To constantly check the quality of the food being served to family members
To control stock rotation to ensure the kitchen and food stores are always well stocked
Prepare a range of delicious soft meals, putting the joy back into food, designed for those with swallowing difficulties

Experience:

Food and Hygiene Level 2
Preferred minimum 3 years' experience working in a kitchen
Team leadership
Planning and budgeting
Stock control and budgeting experience
Previous care home experience an advantage but not essential
