Chef For Schools

Pertemps Edinburgh Contracts is seeking a Chef For Schools to join a busy primary or high school kitchen in Edinburgh.

This part-time, temporary role offers £13.95 per hour and involves working Monday to Thursday, typically 24 hours per week, during term time only.

The position requires preparing and cooking nutritious school meals, maintaining rigorous food hygiene and safety standards, and completing kitchen compliance checks.

Responsibilities also include receiving deliveries, managing stock rotation, assisting with ordering, and serving meals.

An immediate start is available following PVG certification, with costs of £59 for a new application or £18 to update an existing certificate.

Candidates should possess strong organisational abilities and a commitment to food safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious school meals
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety
• Complete food safety records and kitchen compliance checks
• Receive and store deliveries, manage stock rotation, and assist with ordering
• Serve meals and support school events when required
• Carry out general kitchen duties, including cleaning and manual handling

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous cooking experience, ideally within a school or similar catering environment
• Holds a relevant catering qualification or has equivalent experience
• Has a good understanding of food hygiene, allergens, and health & safety
• Can work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
