Objectives

Ideal candidates should have a passion for cooking and the food they are serving. Have the ability to work in a fast paced busy kitchen environment, especially during the height of the season, have the ability to work well as part of a team and possess strong communication skills.

Overview

The Tongadale Hotel is a 25 bedroom hotel offering comfortable accommodation. The hotel also has a bar and a restaurant seating 52 covers. The hotel has a long tradition in island hospitality having been owned and operated by the same family for over 70 years.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting in food preparation activities. Cooking dishes and plating up dishes.

Cooking and plating up breakfast orders.

Ensuring daily knowledge of dishes to be served, together with the appropriate garnish, portions and prices.

Maintaining the menu specials board.

Organising and correctly storing food supplies.

Assisting with the washing up in the scullery and kitchen.

Ensuring a clean and safe working environment at all times by following all relevant health and safety procedures and ensuring all HACCP paperwork is completed.

Following COSHH regulations at all times.

Carry out deep clean as directed by management.

Cleaning and sanitising the food preparation areas based on company and industry hygiene codes and health and safety standards. Washing, disinfecting and properly storing cooking and kitchen utensils and equipment.

Operating a variety of kitchen appliances and instruments including knives, grills, mixers and ovens.

Work Patterns

Permanent position
Monday to Sunday
Annualised 40 hour per week over 5 days
Flexible hours between 6am and 10pm
Holidays calculated on numbers of hours worked

Qualifications and Experience

Required

Experience preferred of working in a commercial kitchen
In - depth understanding of food health and safety regulations
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Effective verbal communication skills
Thoroughness and attention to detail

Desirable

Elementary Health and Hygiene Certificate
