About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Chef to join the kitchen team at Halmer Court in Spalding.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about delivering nutritious, home-cooked meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations within a care home environment.

As a Chef, you will support all aspects of the kitchen operation, ensuring residents receive high-quality meals tailored to their individual dietary, cultural, and nutritional needs.

You will work closely with residents, families, care teams, and colleagues to create a positive dining experience that supports wellbeing and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities as a Chef
  • Preparing and delivering high-quality, nutritious, home-cooked meals
  • Managing stock ordering and supplier relationships
  • Ensuring compliance with COSHH, HACCP, Environmental Health, Food Standards Agency, and company policies
  • Supporting and working alongside kitchen staff teams
  • Maintaining accurate kitchen records, audits, and documentation
  • Monitoring food safety, allergy management, and nutritional standards
  • Developing menus based on resident feedback, dietary requirements, and seasonal ingredients
  • Conducting kitchen audits and reporting issues appropriately
  • Supporting kitchen rotas and ensuring staffing levels are maintained
  • Supporting induction, supervision, and training for kitchen staff
  • Ensuring kitchen, serveries, and dining areas remain hygienically clean and safe at all times
  • Attending mandatory training and ongoing professional development sessions

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working within a professional kitchen environment
  • Knowledge of COSHH, HACCP, Environmental Health, and food safety regulations
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills
  • A good understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements within care settings
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to work positively within a team and act as a role model
  • Professionalism and attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills
  • A passion for delivering high-quality dining experiences for residents

Previous experience within a care home environment is desirable but not essential.
