The role
Herons Lake Retreat are looking for an experienced, dynamic chef to join our team. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team. As a Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring the highest quality of food production and maintaining a positive and efficient work environment. If you have a passion for culinary arts and possess strong leadership skills, we would love to hear from you. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a unique family run business which is growing and developing rapidly. Previous experience within a similar role is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of food production, including menu planning, food preparation, and cooking
- Ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented according to established recipes and quality standards
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed
- Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as necessary
- Collaborate with management to develop new menu items and specials
- Monitor food costs and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen
- Manage kitchen operations during service hours, ensuring smooth workflow and timely delivery of meals
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
Experience:
- You will have a background and be formally trained as a Chef (5 years preferable)
- Self-motivated and extremely reliable with a results-driven approach, potential of profit-share for the right candidate after a given period.
- You will have a background in front of house management.
- You will work within food safety standards required and in an organised manner.
- You have a 'can do' attitude that supports the development of our services.
- You will have strong computer skills and be articulate in writing reports and maintaining records and inventory of stock.
- You're excited to work in a developing and fast-paced kitchen.
- Full UK Driving License and own car
