About Us:
All dogs deserve a good life and a safe, loving home. We exist to provide a safe place for dogs without a home, and to find new loving places for them to live. We currently have three operating centres in North and South Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, and also provide support and community specific initiatives across East Yorkshire, in addition to five charity shops in Brigg, Ashby, Gainsborough, Retford and Scunthorpe.

The role:

We are currently recruiting for a Charity Shop Supervisor to work closely with the shop manager in our Gainsborough shop. You ensure the Charity shop looks welcoming, visually appealing and to enable us to generate as much income as we can. You will assist the shop manager in the recruitment and support of volunteers. To be responsible for all activities in the shop, such as maintaining stock levels, managing the donations, sorting, pricing and stock movement, alongside the Charity Shop Manager. You will always ensure a safe, clean and bright environment for the team to work in, for your customers to shop in and to encourage donations.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Deliver excellent customer experience and maximise the net income of the shop including:

  • In conjunction with the Shop Manager, ensure that stock density, generation, rotation and space allocation procedures are adhered to, in order to optimise sales potential.
  • Ensure a high standard of merchandising, presentation and display within the shop.
  • Develop a team of competent volunteers through effective recruitment, training and effective management in the following areas.
  • Ensure that optimum price levels for merchandise are achieved in conjunction with the pricing policy.
  • Encourage Gift Aid sign-up and support the wider team to maximise sign-ups.
  • Achieve and maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and cleanliness throughout the shop premises, including reviewing maintenance requirements and reporting issues to relevant departments.

Support the development of the shop:

  • Supporting the Shop Manager in the creation of the shop's annual plan and budget and implement accordingly.
  • Assist in the implementation of changes and new initiatives as required by the Shop Manager, Retail Manager and Head of Retail.
  • Promote the presence of the shop within the local community through shop activities, events and social media in order to promote the Charity and encourage good public relations.

Work safely and within policies and procedures:

  • Use resources available to ensure compliance in delivering the volunteer policy and effectively use our health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
  • To act as key holder, to open and close the shop for agreed trading hours and ensure the security of the building on leaving.
  • Compliance with all JGDR policies and procedures and ensure volunteers do so (including GDPR, Health and Safety, Lone Working, Safeguarding).
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties required by management.
