About the Role

City of Doncaster Council delivers a wide range of vital services meeting the needs of those who live, work and visit the borough. As part of the Tree Team within the Street Scene service, we are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join as a Chargehand Arborist. Street Scene is a high profile service responsible for delivering the Council's 'Cleaner, Greener' commitments and providing a high quality living environment for the citizens of Doncaster.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a specialist arboricultural crew.
  • Ensure tree works are completed safely and within agreed timescales.
  • Supervise and motivate team members, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Maintain and care for around 80,000 trees on Council owned land and over 500 ha of public woodland.
  • Respond to 24 h/365 day emergency tree call outs.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Certifications in chainsaw, climbing, aerial rescue, MEWP, rigging and grounds operations.
  • Experienced climbing arborist with a proven track record of leading teams (or a keen interest in progressing to a chargehand role).
  • Strong work ethic, excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage a team and maintain safety compliance.
