An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 6 Junior sister position 37.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will join an established nursing team, working within the Emergency Department. This is a fully rotational post and will be a shift pattern of days, nights, weekends and public holidays to ensure that there is 24 hour paediatric nursing cover at all times within the Emergency Department.

Job Title: Band 6 sister, Emergency DepartmentGrade: Band 6Reports to: ED Department co-ordinatorAccountable to: Matron/Head nurseJob Purpose: Accountable within the team for ensuring that thestandard of nursing care is of a high level, quality beingof prime importance. Ensure adherence to agree Trustpolicies. Primarily to provide emergency nursing topatients attending A&E and to supportprovision of care to all client groups. Provide support tothe junior nursing team providing clinical/safeguardingsupervision.Infection prevention and control:The post holder must comply with all relevant policies,procedures and training on infection prevention andcontrolJOB ROLEA. MANAGING ACTIVITIESA1. Maintain activities to meet requirementsA1.1 Ensure all policies/protocols/standards are upheld.A1.2 Maintain Health and Safety for all staff, patients, visitors and membersof the multidisciplinary team following the Trusts policy.A1.3 Adhere to the Control of Infection policy.A1.4 Maintain knowledge of all department emergency procedures,equipment and major incident plan.A1.5 Participate in the deployment of a mobile team in the pre hospital caresetting.A1.6 Attend yearly updates for all statutory training.A1.7 Maintain a healthy, safe and productive work environment. A2. Manage activities to meet requirementsA2.1 Report and document accidents, incidents and losses

Person Specification QUALIFICATIONS
  • RSCN / RN Adult
  • ePALS provider
  • Safeguarding adults and children level 3
  • Supervisor / Assessor Training
Experience
  • Significant post registration in the speciality and worked as band 5 in Adult ED for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Experience of co-ordinating and implementing service improvement
  • Management/treatment of Minor injuries/ ailments
  • Understanding the role of research and development activities in A&E and upon Clinical Effectiveness
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of the current issues affecting A&E services including Clinical Governance and the NHS Plan
  • Effective leadership skills
