The Role

As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and evaluation of programmes of care ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients. In the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse/Team Leader the post holder will have continuing responsibility for the management and clinical leadership of the area including supervision, development and deployment of staff.

Duties may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency.

In this key role, you will:

  • Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients to ensure delivery of a high standard of care.
  • In the absence Senior Charge Nurse/Co ordinator responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients to ensure delivery of a high standard of care.
  • In the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse/Team Leader assume responsibility for the management/operation of the unit, including work allocation, deployment and supervision of staff.
  • Co operate with Clinical Nurse Manager or deputy/Senior Charge Nurse/Team Leader in the management of induction, recruitment, appraisal and absence management of staff.

What You'll Bring:

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
  • Post graduate expertise within specialty/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the specialty/area of practice.

A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part time working hours will be reduced on a pro rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
