Charge Nurse - Care of the Elderly Ward 55

Overview

Role and responsibilities

• Lead, implement and evaluate standards of good nursing care as a Charge Nurse in Ward 5 5, a 30-bed Acute Assessment Unit for the Elderly.
• Supervise qualified and unqualified staff and ensure appropriate learning opportunities are met for all team members.
• Promote and deliver high quality patient care in line with the CAS standards framework and contribute to education and audit.
• Demonstrate excellent leadership, confident communication and effective organisational skills; deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse as required.
• Maintain a high level of IT skills and possess a good understanding of policy, procedures and national targets relevant to supporting the team.

Requirements and qualifications

• Substantial experience at Band 5 level within a relevant setting.
• Motivated, organised, with excellent communication skills and a desire to develop leadership and managerial capabilities.
• Willingness to contribute to education and audit and demonstrate evidence of personal development.

• Shift pattern is rotational: 12 hours.
