Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Addiction Charge Nurse to join the Healthcare Team at HMPYOI Lilias. HMPYOI Lilias houses low supervision young people and women living in prison. HMPYOI Lilias supports the needs of women who would benefit from care that is trauma informed and gender specific.

This post is primarily based at HMPYOI Lilias however can be moved between the four prison sites if needed to meet exigencies of the service.

The post holder would be required to operate as part of an extensive multi-disciplinary team in the capacity of an Addictions Charge Nurse. This role would include carrying continuing responsibility for the assessment of patients, implementing and evaluating interventions and care plans, setting of standards of care in line with MAT standards, and developing the addictions service to meet prisoner healthcare needs.

On induction the post holder will be required to undergo the range of mandatory training, including- Basic Life Support, Moving and Handling, Breakaway Training, Suicide Risk Management Training and Fire Awareness Training.
For the post you are required to be:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years Post Registration experience working within a relevant clinical setting
  • Awareness of professional and clinical accountability, legal issues, role limitations and boundaries while balancing duty of care and public safety issues
  • Literate in current IT skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative in an ever changing environment
  • Able to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
