Job Description
Overview

A specialist facility for minimally invasive day surgery and outpatient diagnostics. OneWelbeck was founded by doctors and healthcare leaders who believe there is a better way to deliver care. We are driving excellence and improving patient outcomes by breaking down the barriers that exist in today's healthcare system. The OneWelbeck Surgery Centre (OWSC) provides day-case intervention work in a unique dedicated setting to include procedures such as Permanent Pacemaker Implantation, Cryo AF Ablation, Orthopaedic and Gastro-Intestinal procedures. Welbeck Health Partner (WHP) is developing several other day centres across the UK in addition to the flagship centre at 1 Welbeck Street. Further centres are also planned internationally.

To lead a successful private day-case surgery centre by ensuring optimum experience for patients, staff and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational delivery: ensuring that all administrative and clinical staff are effectively organised and managed to provide an efficient infrastructure that enables delivery of top-quality care. Management of SLAs with external providers and other Centres.
  • Quality assurance and performance improvement: ensuring the Centre's activities and records adhere to regulatory requirements; evaluating performance and developing action plans for improvement. Facilitating communication and problem solving to establish effective working relationships between clinicians and Centre staff. Develop a culture of continuous improvement that focuses on quality and patient satisfaction.
  • Financial performance: take responsibility for planning, monitoring and assessing performance against the budget.
  • People management: actively seeking opportunities to continually develop own knowledge and that of the Centre staff. Selecting, orientating, supervising and evaluating the performance of all staff. Maintaining standards of performance and assisting in the development and completion of personal development plans for all staff members.
  • Regulatory, governance and safety: ensure appropriate processes and outcome management are in place to meet the requirements of all accreditation bodies, including but not limited to CQC. Assist in developing, interpreting, supporting and implementing policies and procedures. You will be the CQC Registered Manager of the Centre.
Operational Delivery and Governance
  • Governance: provides input regarding short- and long-term goals of the Centre; directs and participates in Centre committees, meetings, in-services, and activities.
  • Drives efficiencies: monitors operational activities for effective and efficient management of daily operation; monitors FTE utilisation and makes recommendations to promote cost-effective man-hour practices; analyses data from quality assurance and performance-improvement programs and prepares reports and action plans.
  • Equipment and facilities: ensures the Centre is clean and maintained per policy, accreditation, and regulatory compliance; ensures equipment is clean, disinfected, sterile (as required), and operational at all times; ensures service contracts are in place for all equipment; manages performance of services provided by contracted providers (e.g., pathology, radiology, housekeeping).
  • Staff planning and development: reviews daily time and attendance sheets and maintains attendance logs; prepares or delegates staffing schedules; ensures safe staffing levels; maintains a comfortable and safe working environment; counsels staff and makes recommendations for salary adjustments, promotions, and/or terminations; evaluates suggestions and grievances to improve performance and quality of care; observes and evaluates performance to continuously improve care and services.
  • Other: regular and predictable attendance; attends required education.
Quality Assurance, Safety and Governance
  • Safety: implements best practices to provide safety in the workplace; monitors the Centre's environment and maintains safety, comfort, cleanliness, and efficiencies; monitors care, cleaning and maintenance of equipment; works with the Safety Officer and Facilities Management to resolve safety issues; submits information to licensed healthcare risk management bodies as required; ensures COSHH regulations are met and staff are educated; strives to deliver safe, high-quality care.
  • Quality Care & Governance: remains current on local and national laws, rules and standards; submits required reports on time; ensures activities and records adhere to regulatory requirements; develops, interprets, and implements policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements; maintains policies and procedures and supports governing board and committees; participates in QAPI processes and contributes to data analysis and action plans.
  • Performance improvement: evaluates performance and develops action plans; facilitates communication to establish effective relationships between clinicians and staff; fosters a culture of continuous improvement focused on quality and patient satisfaction.
Financial Management and Procurement
  • Financial performance: chairs or participates on designated committees; monitors and analyzes financial performance using monthly operating reports; assists in budget development and reporting; submits financial and resource reports.
  • Drives efficiencies: promotes cost containment and efficient use of resources; conducts cost-benefit analyses to identify improvements; recommends cost-effective changes.
  • Procurement: identifies needs within budget, ensures inventory is adequate, and manages new product/equipment implementation; ensures documentation is current and follows purchasing practices.
Staff and Stakeholder Management
  • Staff management: approves payroll submissions; leads staff development and delivers orientation; enables coaching and mentoring; ensures cross-training where appropriate; ensures continuing education for clinical staff; completes staffing reviews; champions equality and diversity.
  • Stakeholder management: maintains open communication with Medical Director, Anaesthetic Lead, Finance Committee Chair, QAPI Chairman, and other key stakeholders; oversees credentialing; coordinates Peer Review processes and maintains confidentiality.
