To support the Facilities (Hotel Services) team in delivering catering services to patients, staff and visitors in accordance with the Health Board Food Safety policy and all relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
The post holder will work either as part of the ward based catering team or the Main Kitchen catering team and will be responsible for food preparation or regeneration, meal service and cleaning of all catering areas. This is a fixed term, 9 month position covering maternity leave.
Main duties of the job- Prepare food and beverages in accordance with Health Board policy, procedures and legislative requirements;
- Assist nursing staff with meal service at ward level;
- Serve beverages at ward level in accordance with patient requests;
- Serve staff and customers in the dining room, providing a professional and polite service;
- Operate the cash register accurately;
- Ensure all catering areas are cleaned in accordance with daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
- In the event of a major incident or adverse weather/other contingency, be available outside normal working hours to support Facilities Services.
The duties of this post are not inflexible or exhaustive and may change in line with the grading of the post as the organisation or department develops, after consultation with the post holder.
Person Specification Skills and Attributes- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Welsh language skills in speaking/listening at Level 3 or above (UK CEFR B2+)
- Previous experience in a catering role with basic knowledge of catering practices
- Good standard of general education (key skills level 2 in English and Mathematics or equivalent)
- Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace, including Food Safety Act 1990, Food Hygiene (Wales) 2006, Food Handling policies, COSHH and HACCP procedures
