Catering Assistant

We are recruiting to the Team at St Nicholas Hospital to work within our friendly Catering Department.

This post is offered at 33.75 hours per week.

Tuesday to Friday and alternate Saturdays.

Shift Patterns between 6am - 6pm.

Main duties of the job

Basic food preparation/packing and cleaning duties within a chilled environment.

Manual handling duties including accepting and putting deliveries away, collecting items to prep & pack within a walk in freezer, chilled environment.

Candidate will be expected to work within a chilled and freezer environment.

Regeneration of patients' food in a ward environment.

Pay: Band A (£12.92 per hour). There is potential to earn more, with enhancements offered for weekend work.

Person Specification Skills and Knowledge

• Ability to communicate well with others such as colleagues, clinical staff, or patients.
• Ability to work well as part of a team but also to work unsupervised.
• Adherence to standards and procedures and ability to accept and prioritise instructions.
• Must be able to meet the mobility requirements of the post.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety (training will be provided).

Experience

• Any previous service industry experience (e.g., D). Training will be provided if none.
• Previous experience of stock control.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications required; a certificate in hygiene is desirable.
