Location: Remote / Walsall

Salary: £51,356 - £54,495 per annum

About our Place Category

The Place Category offers opportunities for a Category Manager and a Category Specialist to manage capital and grant funded construction, infrastructure and building maintenance projects.

We collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including council service areas, professional consultants, end users, frameworks and the supply chain. We champion high integrity, flexibility and pragmatic procurement advice to achieve the best procurement strategy and project delivery.

Key Projects
  • Bloxwich Market improvement - £75k, JCT Minor works - Open - PA 2023
  • Redevelopment of Bloxwich and Leamore Parks - £1m, JCT Minor Works - Single stage via Pagabo DPS
  • Refurbishment of former post office into "Bloxwich Launchpad" - £1.8m, JCT Intermediate with Contractor Design - Single stage via CWM Framework
  • SEN School Teaching Block - £3m, Direct Award via NHS Modular Framework
  • New build Household Waste Recycle Centre and Waste Transfer Station - £32m, NEC option A - Two stage via Pagabo Major Works Framework

We also support a £1.5 b regeneration programme across the borough.

Role Overview

We are seeking a commercially minded, positive individual with a 'can do' attitude to work collaboratively with stakeholders and successfully deliver procurement activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be flexible and pragmatic in approach.
  • Manage multiple workstreams across the category at different stages of the procurement cycle.
  • Work with teams at all levels to plan, define services and ensure procurement projects meet local objectives.
  • Provide positive support for the team.
  • Apply knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
  • Support the Council's corporate vision of delivering excellent services and improving life chances for all Walsall residents.
