Casual Visitor Operations Assistant March to end September.

Alternate weekends Saturday and Sunday 09.30 to 16.30

Holiday cover shifts available and possibility of additional weekday shifts from May. Breaks paid.

We are looking for a friendly visitor facing staff member to help support the visitor operation at Brantwood over the busy summer months. We are looking for someone who can work every other Saturday and Sunday. You will be working with a small and experienced team and full training will be provided.

The job requires welcoming visitors to the house and gardens and selling the appropriate ticket for their visit. In addition you will be selling books and gifts from the shop and ensuring visitors have a memorable, enjoyable and safe visit.

Previous museum experience is not necessary, but a flexible and sympathetic approach to the needs of the museum environment is required along with strong communication skills, smart personal presentation and the desire to provide a very high level of customer service at all times.

Applicants will need to be comfortable using computers, till systems and PDQ machines and cashing up.

The main duties of the post are:
  • To work in the shop or ticket booth at Brantwood, welcoming visitors to the house and gardens.
  • To be responsible for the opening and closing of the house or ticket booth operation observing all associated procedures.
  • To sell and redeem tickets.
  • To promote gift aid.
  • Cashing up at the end of the day.
  • To deal with sales of books, gifts and food items.
  • To deal with public and telephone enquiries in the first instance, and to give appropriate information regarding Brantwood's facilities and services.
  • Ensure that stock levels in the shop are maintained and that stock in the shop is well presented.
  • To ensure the public facilities are always clean and stocked.
  • To put out correct visitor signage and ensure high standards of presentation and public safety at all times.
  • To support on events as and when required.

Due to the rural location of Brantwood applicants will need to be able to make their way to and from work independently without reliance on public transport.

The role involves periods of sitting, standing, showing visitors into the historic rooms, some light lifting (stock and leaflet movements) and using staircases to access upstairs rooms and the office areas.
