Casual Residential Care Practitioner - Children & Young People

£27,254 - £30,024 pro rata, per annum. This includes 1 atypical payment for the requirement to work Sundays.

This role also includes Sleep ins, for which a separate payment will be made (currently £43.12).

About Us

With one of our children's homes recently rated Good by Ofsted (January 2026), there has never been a better time to join us.

We are opening a new Residential Children's Homes for children aged 8-18 with Emotional and Behavioural difficulties (EBD) and we are looking for passionate Residential Care Practitioners to join us on a Casual basis.

About You

We will provide a comprehensive induction and training in the run up to the opening of the home, however, to meet Ofsted requirements, you must possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or an equivalent qualification, such as NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce), (due to government requirements, casual staff are not eligible to complete an apprenticeship).

You will also have:

  • Experience (paid or voluntary) working in a health, social care or educational setting, having also previously dealt with challenging behaviours.
  • A strong commitment to making a difference to the vulnerable children and young people who live in our homes to achieve their full potential
  • An understanding of Safeguarding, and an appreciation of its importance
  • Great self-awareness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with our children and young people.
  • A passion for learning, self-reflection, and growth within this role; striving to deliver a high-quality service.

As a member of our casual team, you may be required to provide cover across all three homes, to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our children and young people.

For alternative working patterns, where atypicals don't apply, salary band C will apply; £26,824 - £29,540 pro rata, per annum.
