About NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million when including regional and national services.

Position Details

The shift pattern for this role is:

  1. Monday, 7:00am - 11:20am
  2. Tuesday, 7:00am - 11:10am
  3. Wednesday, 7:00am - 11:10am

Salary is pro-rata for part-time hours.

Role Responsibilities

The Caretaker/Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, hazard-free environment, performing general maintenance duties, and handling minor repair work. After initial induction and on-the-job training, the post holder will work independently with guidance from a supervisor or line manager. They will also be responsible for building security and may need to cover caretaking duties at other sites within the North West Sector.

Communication and Liaison

Effective liaison with internal departments, external contractors, General Practitioners, and all premises users is required.

Qualifications and Skills

No formal qualifications are necessary; on-the-job training and induction will be provided. Essential skills include:

  • Carrying out minor works
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow protocols
  • Workload prioritization and flexibility

Experience in minor maintenance, caretaking, or portering is desirable, as are keyboard skills and data input experience.
