CAMHS Mental Health and Substance Misuse Practitioner - USC Team

We are looking to recruit an experienced, registered practitioner to join our Unscheduled Care Team within CAMHS in Gwynedd, North Wales. This newly developed post will provide clinicians with flexibility, autonomy and opportunities for professional growth while supporting children and young people up to age 18 who are experiencing an acute mental health or psychosocial crisis.
Main duties of the jobTo undertake assessments within A+E, paediatric wards and other community settings to support the provision of a crisis response.
You will provide clinical formulation, identifying the young person's and family's needs, offer liaison, consultation, brief intervention where required, facilitate safe discharge and support care planning across partner agencies. The post holder will be required to work flexibly across North Wales and, as the service develops, provide a 24 hour provision. You will be a part of a multi disciplinary regional unscheduled care service, working with young people who are experiencing a mental health or psychosocial crisis, where hospital admission is a strong possibility, but can be safely supported at home or within another community setting.
You will provide urgent assessment, brief intervention and/or specific evidence based therapies to children and young people with mental health problems and significant mental health disorders. To support parents, carers and front line professionals in understanding and supporting the child or young person through providing education, advice and direction on how to manage the condition.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge- Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Registered Nurse, Mental Health or Social Worker registered with the Care Council.
- Occupational therapist registered with the Health Professions Council; evidence of personal and clinical development.
- Evidence of postgraduate training for the supervision and teaching of junior staff.
- Extensive knowledge of mental health issues.
- Up to date knowledge and application of consent, data protection, patient confidentiality and risk management with Health and Safety issues.
- Up to date working knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
- Knowledge of relevant national strategies.
- Knowledge of information and technology communication.
- Knowledge of the principles of change management.
- Degree in a relevant clinical or professional area; specialist practitioner award.
- Knowledge of interview and appraisal process.
- Knowledge of management theories.
- Knowledge of local policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Knowledge and skill related to substance misuse.
- Relevant post registration experience working with children, young people and families in a health or social care environment or a mental health setting.
- Evidence of good organisational skills.
- Evidence of basic L.T. skills.
- Evidence of people management and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to care for and communicate an advanced understanding of the psychological needs of individuals.
- Evidence of analytical skills.
- Advanced clinical skills.
- Welsh language skills levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading and writing.
- Committed to continuous professional development.
- Fitness and willingness to use de escalation, break away techniques as appropriate, subject to relevant training according to BCUHB policy.
- Ability to travel across sites in a timely manner.
