Job Description
Job Title: Calibration Technician 
Location: Athlone, County Westmeath
We have an excellent opportunity for a Calibration Technician to join our client, a leading medical device and healthcare technology company. The successful candidate will support the Facilities and Calibration team, ensuring all equipment is calibrated in line with defined schedules, specifications and strict regulatory and compliance requirements.
This is a technical role within a regulated medical device manufacturing environment, with responsibility for calibration activities, troubleshooting, documentation, quality compliance and continuous improvement.
Main Responsibilities- Take ownership of the day-to-day Calibration System, ensuring all calibration requirements are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Execute in-house calibration activities in accordance with approved work instructions where applicable.
- Coordinate calibration contractors to ensure activities are completed on time and in compliance with procedures.
- Maintain the PEMAC calibration system, ensuring all records are accurate and audit-ready.
- Support troubleshooting, root cause investigations and problem solving for calibration-related issues.
- Support Engineering in the identification, diagnosis and rectification of equipment and test failures.
- Support process validation activities, including IQs relating to calibration.
- Support the change management process for calibration documentation, including procedures and work instructions.
- Lead or assist in drafting and updating procedures, work instructions and technical documentation.
- Support the closure of quality non-conformances, NCMRs, NCs and audit findings.
- Support the closure of safety audit findings relating to Facilities and Calibration.
- Collect and analyse calibration data to identify trends, process improvements and opportunities to improve system efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to increase the amount of calibration completed by internal resources where appropriate.
- Support equipment and tooling obsolescence programmes.
- Complete relevant Oracle transactions relating to Calibration and Facilities when required.
- Minimum Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
- Minimum Level 6 qualification in a technical discipline.
- Formal training in Calibration Fundamentals or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with automated and manual equipment in a controlled environment.
- Clear understanding of calibration fundamentals and traceability.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear feedback to colleagues and supervisors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Previous experience within a Medical Device or GMP-regulated environment.
- Exposure to Medical Device Validation, Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with Oracle change control and data analysis.
- Experience working with calibration systems such as PEMAC.
- Experience preparing equipment for calibration while adhering to EHS requirements.
