Role Overview

Pure Staff are recruiting a reliable and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join a busy, customer-focused café within the vibrant Danum Gallery, Library & Museum in Doncaster.

This 12-week temporary role offers a strong opportunity to become permanent. Successful candidates will be offered a permanent position following the initial period, subject to performance and attendance.

You'll play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, preparing food and drinks, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and professionalism within a public-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Service - Provide a warm, welcoming and professional experience for all customers; operate tills accurately, handling cash and card payments; maintain high standards of personal presentation and hygiene; respond positively and efficiently to customer queries.
• Food & Beverage Preparation - Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks, light meals, and snacks; follow recipes, portion control, and presentation standards; support healthier menu options and maintain allergen awareness.
• Cleanliness & Safety - Maintain cleanliness across café, kitchen, seating, and storage areas; follow food safety, hygiene, and allergen procedures at all times; assist with daily and weekly cleaning schedules and safety checks.
• Team Support & Development - Work collaboratively as part of a small team; participate in training and development opportunities; support colleagues during busy periods; remain calm and professional in a fast paced environment.

Skills & Experience

• Essential - Experience in a café, hospitality, or customer facing role (or strong transferable skills); strong communication and interpersonal skills; willingness to complete Food Safety training.
• Desirable - Previous food handling experience; knowledge of allergen awareness.
