A Buyer is responsible for selecting, purchasing, and managing the clothing and accessories that will be sold by the brand. This role is crucial in shaping the product offering, maintaining the brand's fashion-forward identity, and ensuring commercial success in a competitive retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify fashion trends, fabrics, and styles that align with brand and target market.
- Source and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, and designers to secure high-quality products at competitive prices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and consistent product quality.
- Analyse sales data, customer feedback, and market trends to inform buying decisions and maximize profitability.
- Develop seasonal buying plans and budgets in collaboration with the merchandising and design teams.
- Attend trade shows, fashion events, and supplier meetings to stay updated on industry developments and discover new products.
- Monitor stock levels, manage inventory, and coordinate with the logistics team to ensure optimal stock availability.
- Work closely with marketing and visual merchandising teams to plan product launches and promotional campaigns.
- Prepare regular reports on sales performance, stock turnover, and buying margins for senior management.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of the fashion industry, trends, and consumer behaviour.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
- Commercial awareness and a keen eye for detail and quality.
- Experience in fashion buying, merchandising, or a related retail role.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail management software.
