Role Purpose
Kirby Group Engineering is seeking a Business Transformation Manager to support large-scale transformation programs within the Power & Renewables business, a £100M+ business unit operating across the UK and Ireland. As a key member of the business unit leadership team, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving operational, digital, and cultural change initiatives that strengthen our ability to deliver critical projects for clients and ensure full alignment across functions and operational locations. This role will directly contribute to the success of Kirby and its clients, supporting excellence in project delivery, technical innovation, and client satisfaction.
Business Transformation Manager Responsibilities
In conjunction with your team, you will be responsible for the execution of tasks to include:
Change Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement a change management framework tailored to Kirby's construction and engineering operations, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives and business unit growth.
- Working with business unit leader and other Functional Stakeholder leads across Ireland and the UK to define transformation objectives and outcomes.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on change impact and adoption risks, ensuring business readiness at all times.
- Take ownership of relevant initiatives, drive progress and report back regularly to the leadership team
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Engage stakeholders across multiple levels (executive board, project managers, engineering teams, commercial teams, planning teams, EHS teams, site staff etc.)
- Deliver communication strategies that promote awareness, engagement, and adoption of change initiatives across multi-site operations.
- Facilitate workshops, town halls, and site briefings to strengthen alignment and collaboration.
Change Implementation
- Apply structured change management methodologies (e.g., Kotter's 8-step change model, McKinsey 7-S Framework, Lean Change Management etc.) to ensure adoption of new processes, systems, and behaviors.
- Partner with digital transformation teams to embed technologies such as BIM, ERP, project controls, and field mobility tools.
- Support Lean Construction and Agile ways of working to enhance project delivery across large-scale industrial and mission-critical projects.
Training & Capability Building
- Assess training needs across the £100M+ business unit and implement learning programs for project managers, engineers, and site staff etc.
- Develop user-friendly toolkits, guidance, and onboarding programs to embed change and build resilience.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing across Ireland and the UK operations.
Performance & Benefits Realization
- Track adoption, performance, and benefits realization of transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with business unit KPIs.
- Deliver reports and dashboards to leadership, highlighting progress, adoption risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure Kirby remains in a state of continuous readiness, able to deliver consistently for its clients and stakeholders.
- Identify best practice and ensure operational alignment across all operational regions and, where relevant, with the wider group
Necessary requirement of the Business Transformation Manager
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-10 years' proven track record in transformation or change management within the construction, engineering, or industrial sectors.
- Experience managing change across large business units (£100M+), preferably with multinational or multi-site exposure.
- Strong understanding of construction lifecycles and project delivery, preferably in sectors such as M&E, Substations, data centres, life sciences, and industrial facilities.
- Familiarity with digital construction tools (BIM, ERP, project controls etc.).
- Demonstrated use of structured change methodologies (Kotter, McKinsey, Lean Six-Sigma).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels.
- Strong facilitation, influencing, and problem-solving abilities.
